Junior Cricket

Gone are the days where junior cricket takes up the whole weekend! With shortened match lengths and high levels of action and involvement, Hilton Park emphasises fun, development of skills and respect for all.

Cricket Blast

Beginning with Cricket Blast, the program has been designed to engage and empower kids 5 to 10 years old of all skill levels and abilities, to unleash their potential through fun, game-based activities. The 2023 program is well underway. If your kid is keen to join next year, pop it in the 2024 calendar. Registrations should be open in September 2024 with the sessions kicking off (or hitting off?) around late October.

Juniors

Kids then progress to Junior Cricket. Smaller team sizes encourage greater match action for all players, and reduced pitch length and boundary widths for the younger age groups. The kids work through 3 stages as they grown and their skills develop.

Dates and Costs

The season starts mid-October and runs through to March, with the games taking a break over the summer school holiday period and resuming in Term 1 of the new school year. Registration costs for the season range from $99 (Cricket Blast) to a little over $200. Children between 5 and 18 years who are named on a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card can access up to $300 per financial year towards fees from KidSport.

Junior Cricket Pathway

 A key principle of the Pathway is to encourage players to participate at the level that is appropriate to their ability level. The ages below are indicative only and could vary for girls and boys based on previous experience.

Rules

Rules for Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 must be used by all Associations and their affiliated clubs in the playing of Junior Cricket and shall be read in conjunction with:

MCC Laws of Cricket;
CJCC General Rules for all CJCC Endorsed Competitions; and
• MCC Law 42 Players' Conduct is replaced by CJCC Reports, Investigations and Conduct Hearings.

The Community Junior Cricket Council (CJCC) is the governing body responsible for junior community cricket made up of Associations in the Perth and Peel metropolitan area. Association(s) refers to the Association or Council that administers the Competition that is being played.
CJCC rules herein may alter MCC Laws of Cricket for CJCC endorsed competitions. This is done to ensure and increase player safety, progression, participation and enjoyment. Where CJCC rules do not specifically address a scenario in a CJCC endorsed competition match, the related MCC Law should be used.
